No Greater Love

John 15:11-14 (KJV) 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you.

If I had to pick a verse for our mission trip it would John 15:13. Not because I think that we as a team are making such a great sacrifice but because we everything we do is motivated by the love and sacrifice of Jesus. As a team we are reading a book called “No Greater Love” by AW Tozer and the theme for the Senior Pastor and Wives Conference is also “No Greater Love.”

We are just coming to the end of a 22 hour journey. While wearing a mask for that length of time (except when eating or drinking) is not the most comfortable thing in the world but it is a small price to pray for the privilege of serving Jesus. God gave His only son and Jesus willingly laid down His life. Whatever we give is nothing in comparison to this.

Nevertheless, I am already so blessed by our team who have all given up finance, time at work, summer vacation, or being with family to be here for the next three weeks. Some of our team members are brand new to either missions or Africa and I know they are both excited and apprehensive. They all have such greats hearts and are willing and ready to serve the Lord with their whole hearts.

We told them in training the only thing you can absolutely rely on is that things will change many times no matter how much we have planned and prepared. Please be in prayer for peace, flexibility and servants hearts for the entire team. Pray for our recovery from jet lag and for the strength to jump right into the ministry ahead. Pray for us to adapt to the culture quickly. Most of all, pray that everything we do will model the love and compassion of Jesus.

In Christ,

Pastor Gary
