Prayer for these little ones

From left to right Rose (9) and Naka (7)

Please pray that God will give us wisdom for three little girls that God brought into our lives and hearts. Above are Rose and Naka, they have been living with us for the last five weeks and came to us severely malnourished and sick with hook worms, typhoid and malaria. Rose also had an umbilical hernia which was operated on a few weeks ago. We have seen these girls transform in the last five weeks from sad, sick and hopeless to full of joy, dancing and singing. We measured them a couple of days ago and each has gained weight (Naka 4.4 lbs and Rose 3.2 lbs). Rose still needs a lot of medical care as she is frequently in pain and has trouble sleeping. Still almost every morning they greet us with smiles and laughter.

Joy with Rose, Naka and their three brothers.

Their big sister Joy (15 years old) is like a little mother to them making sure they take their medication , eat and always has their jackets when they get cold. She too has medical issues and was just diagnosed with primary hypertension and ulcers. She also had typhoid with her sisters. We are working to take her for an echocardiogram. When we first went to visit them they were living with their grandmother and three brothers. They had no food and were drinking water from a putrid pool of stagnant water. The four older kids mother died years ago and Rose and Naka’s mother abandoned them after their alcoholic father beat her. He also beat and abused the kids when he was drunk. Our son, Pastor Majok was the one that had the children removed from the father’s house and taken to the grandmother. The grandmother willingly took them in but just did not have the resources to care for them.

This is pool of water the people in the area were drinking from and yes it is actually green.

As I said earlier, Joy, Rose and Naka have been living with us for the past five weeks and are getting healthier everyday. The problem is that we are coming to the end of our trip and we just can’t send them back home to get sick all over again. A couple of weeks ago a woman in the village told James Vaca that it was a miracle that Rose was still alive. She said “a year ago we were just waiting for her to die but now she is healthy.” Please pray that God will give us wisdom on how to help them long term. We have a few ideas we are praying about that will help them and other children like them so please pray for us. We will keep you posted when we have a definite plan.

Isaiah 30:21 (NKJV)
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This [is] the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.
